During the COVID-19 pandemic, please check on when it is permissible to hold in-person CPR training by referring to your school board’s COVID-19 safety guidelines, your local public health authorities, and any provincial and federal requirements. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada suggests that public training in Compression–Only CPR (CPR technique without giving breaths) can be taught as long as in-person training is permissible according to provincial/territorial governments and public health authorities. Regarding the ACT Program curriculum materials, please refer your students to the Compression-Only CPR Student manual. Students completing the Compression-Only CPR course should receive the Compression-Only CPR Course Completion card.

Please also note that, while the video demonstration for the Obstructed Airway Manoeuvre can be shown, students should not practice on each other.

With the frequently changing COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage you to regularly seek guidance on when it is permissible to hold in-person CPR training by referring to your school board’s COVID-19 safety guidelines, your local public health authorities, and any provincial and federal requirements.
