Award Nominations

Would you like ACT to honour one of your students or teachers with an award? Nominating is quick and easy, and ACT Awards give recognition to students and teachers for their contributions, commitment, and innovations. They also look great on résumés! 

Rescue Award

Presented to students and teachers who have used any of the skills learned in the CPR program. For example:

Recognizing signs of a heart attack or stroke; calling 911; administering CPR; performing the obstructed airway manoeuvre; using an AED; helping at the scene of an emergency. Regardless of the outcome, we still like to honour students and teachers for reacting in an emergency.

Leadership ACTion Award

Presented to students who demonstrate leadership in the CPR program. For example:

Helping to teach CPR in the classroom; participating on a school emergency response team; teaching CPR to family and friends; promoting the importance of CPR and AED training.

Hands of ACTion Award

Presented to students who provide general classroom help to teachers. For example:

Cleaning mannequins and/or helping with classroom set up/take down.

Rescue Stories

Youth and teachers who have been trained through the ACT High School CPR and AED Program are stepping forward and using their lifesaving skills in a wide range of emergencies involving family, friends, and strangers. Many lives are being saved.

Retired Teacher's Life Saved by Colleagues

Physical Education teachers Cynthia and Thomas had arrived early at school when they heard an emergency called out over the PA system at Westmount Secondary School. A retired teacher who was offering supply coverage that day, had collapsed.

High School Teachers Save Student’s Life After Sudden Collapse 

17-year-old student Tyler was on break from the game and exchanging a few words with his PE teacher, Kim. Less than a minute later, he had collapsed to the floor, face-down, unresponsive and showing seizure-like movements. 

Student saves Stranger with CPR

Marcus was selling his parent’s used lawnmower to earn extra money before heading off to university, when a man suddenly collapsed.
